EHOA Accomplishments 2001

Looking back to the work we did this year we are proud of the outcome.  The property tax appeal worked out very well.  Many streets were paved and others are on the list for 2002.  Street signs that were missing are in place.  And, the Marriott assisted living hotel is gone.  Our membership is increasing and through our website we have established a liaison with homeowners associations in Arizona, Florida and Illinois thus far.  It is interesting to know that their concerns are similar to ours.  Fiscal accountability, property rights, enforcement of existing zoning laws, maintenance of city infrastructure on residential zones, property taxes and improvement in public schools.

Homeowners in the suburbs of Chicago worry about tall office buildings being attacked.  But like us, no one is panicking.  They are following their everyday routine.  They are vigilant and do not hesitate to call police if they see or hear anything suspicious.  We must do the same.  We are all learning to go on, regardless of the threat of terrorism.

As 2001 leaves us in the middle of a recession and war, we must keep an optimistic attitude each and everyday.  Let’s enjoy the moment, regardless of the terrorists’ threats.  We wish you a safe and healthy New Year.  And, we thank you for your support.
