UPDATE ON MANDATORY LANDMARK LAW
In
a recent article in the Suburbanite, the EHOA was falsely accused of giving
misinformation in its News Bulletin by Will Lee, a political appointee to the
Historical Advisory Committee. We stand
100 percent on the information that was printed which is exclusively based on
the 21 page proposed ordinance by the Historical Advisory Committee. The EHOA will have a special mailing of an 8
page letter written by a former member of the Historical Advisory Committee who
studied the proposed ordinance line by line and is totally against it. The city council tabled any decision on the
proposed street signs replacement program creating historical districts and
streetscapes. Numerous homeowners
opposed these street signs on the basis they are misleading and paid for by
public funds.
On
the survey that was included in our last issue 367 homeowners responded. Six homeowners agreed that something should
be done to preserve the character of our neighborhoods. Three out of the six homeowners made
reference to change the building code as it stands today on each side of the
home. We agree that it could be about 25
feet between the sides of each home, because it will create more green space
and it will save trees.
