Englewood Municipal Budget

Englewood’s taxes are very high compared to other towns in Bergen County. How is our money spent? Are we getting good value? In our last newsletter we started comparing our budget is to other towns of similar size. Because these towns do not have exactly the same population, the budgets are adjusted to Englewood’s population.

Englewood has over ten times the amount of Reserve - Uncollected Taxes as Bergenfield and over three times that of Ridgewood. Our budget for street lighting is over three times that of Bergenfield and Ridgewood. And our telephone budget is more than three times Bergenfield and nearly double Ridgewood.

We continue to ask: How do we manage to spend so much more than other towns?
